Rip Tide 03:03
You and i used to drink to forget Things that happened before we both met And i know you can feel my pain That's why i wanted to meet you again I see them quirks, part of me in you Cheeky smirk, compassionate youth We drink happy now our limbs entwined Oh no have I fallen for you? The goth in you, something lost in me My sad love songs and your poetry Maybe I'll be bold and jump in the sea A rip tide below my feet There's no need to run out of the room After declaring your love for me I'll be brave and jump into This rip tide with you

By The Tree 04:28
That ribbon tattooed on your leg When you told me what that represents Oh my love Although I could not share in your grief I'll walk with you by the tree A friend of yours Would have been a friend of mine You can drink Guinness that's okay It's my usual anyway I'll just hold you Even though I was no regular At the Camden Good Mixer A friend of yours Would have been a friend of mine I'll walk with you By the tree By the tree Margret's tree If you need me If you need me

Drive me down memory lane Past the field Through the metal gate Sweet sour scent - Of the English countryside And it happens when Nostalgia wins Your senses bring back All these things Celluiods of lost friends Where we would reside Playing all night Up all hours writing Arguing - in the English country side And it happens when Nostalgia wins Your senses bring back All these things Celluiods of lost friends I would like to go back And Celebrate our youth Friends for life - In the English countryside And it happens when Nostalgia wins Your senses bring back All these things Celluiods of lost friends

Pay No Rent 03:42
After drinking all the wine I just wanted to sleep In the chapel they've all been crying i can hear them weep Pin up girls , weirdos , confessions from former lovers I was just a puppet needing to keep a job Spend your life choosing friends But don't have time to spend All your time searching for love Love don't pay no rent God is not working god will not be king Monarchy nor faith could never win Young army deserter, Grampa ashamed to bits Loneliness won't help us, i'd prefer regret Spend your life choosing friends But don't have time to spend All your time searching for love Love don't pay no rent An earthquake hits off the North Yorkshire coast But that shit doesn't happen round here we'd boast Over in the Wild Horse resort and spa Girls like mermaids try to stay alive Spend your life choosing friends But don't have time to spend All your time searching for love Love don't pay no rent

about

Compassionate Youth
brand new EP from The Saturday Boy

dreamy indie-pop / slowcore / confessional alt-country

The latest release from London’s The Saturday Boy (4 track EP "Compassionate Youth" out summer 2017) is his most ambitious to date. Soundscapes are more epic, arrangements and instrumentation feel bigger and influences appear to be far more wide ranging than previous releases.

Prior records featured a heavy dose of heartbreak ballads and the sound was pure alt country/folk however this new EP feels nostalgic, romantic and dreamy.

Compassionate Youth proves The Saturday Boy wouldn’t be out of place in a festival line-up with epic alt-rock luminaries like The National and Spiritualised, but equally you can still imagine The Saturday Boy getting up close and personal in a dive bar with impassioned sensitive singer songwriters such as Bill Ryder-Jones or Julia Jacklin.

Dreamy stuff …lovely guitars …honest heartfelt vocals

about

The Saturday Boy London, UK

Retaining their trademark warm alt-country sounds, brutally honest lyrics and plenty of pedal steel guitar, The Saturday Boy are also pushing boundaries with their second release. “Stormy Skies” edges close to John Martyn/Nick Drake territory, the epic gloomy indie rock of “Table Decorations” is reminiscent of The National, radio friendly melodic pop choruses feature on “Lightweight Lover” ... more
